Attorney General Eric Holder on The Wire: give us more

Politicians are constantly sticking their noses where they don't belong: in our pocketbooks, in our bedrooms, in our teams' locker rooms. Now one politician wants to take this phenomenon a step further by butting into our beloved television programming. And you know what? God bless him!

Attorney General Eric Holder has demanded that David Simon and Ed Burns, creators of the critically adored HBO series The Wire (also known as The Best TV Show Ever), get back into the writers room and whip him up another season. Apparently five seasons of near flawless television (okay, four seasons, I guess the fifth season is debatable) isn't enough for the AG.

The call to action came today during a meeting at the Justice Department to discuss the topic of protecting children from drug abuse. In attendance were actors from The Wire including Wendell Pierce (who played Bunk), Sonja Sohn (who played Kima) and Jim True-Frost (who played Prezbo).

“I want to speak directly to Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of ‘The Wire’. “That’s actually at a minimum. … If you don’t do a season, do a movie.  We’ve done HBO movies, this is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.” According to Reuters, the audience applauded Attorney General Holder's demands.

Wendell Pierce seconded the AG with a simple, "Here, here." At least he didn't say, "There you go. Givin' a f*ck when it ain't your turn to give a f*ck." He can save that for when Congress decides to start looking into the college football bowl system.
