Community’s Troy and Abed in the Morning: here comes the mug

Amidst a stellar cast, Community’s Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) make up one of the most powerfully zany comedy duos on television.

Now, let me get into why the Interweb excels in harnessing the armies of TV geekery, with Troy and Abed as a perfect case study.

Reddit – a social news site with a community and culture all its own – has a meme of sorts called IAmA in which I’ve noticed various people drop by to announce that IAmA Navy SEAL, Wal-Mart employee, Unicyclist, etc. (it gets weirder and creepier from there as many things on the web will tend to go, but you get the idea). I’ve also seen celebrities pop in of late, and I was pleased to see our man Danny Pudi himself pop in today to do an impromptu question and answer center on the comments thread (some other celebs you can check out: Jeff Bridges, Louis C.K., Jon Benjamin).

Let’s proceed to segue to the really cool stuff. One of the top comments reads, “Troy and Abed In the Morning, why isn’t this an actual TV show yet?” This of course will make any fan of community smile as it refers to the oddball morning show-within-a-show bit that ended a Season Two episode:

Even cooler is a reply to the comment that refers to the NBC store where – wait for it – you can buy a Troy and Abed in the Morning coffee mug (note: we here at TV Geek Army make no money if you choose to purchase said mug; we simply find it to be kickass).

As a fiendish fiend of the coffee and Community, I would be proud to wield my coffee mug adorned with a logo from a fake talk show from a pop culture-drenched sitcom with pride. How ‘bout you?
