Review: Cougar Town, “No Reason to Cry”
(S0211) Cougar Town is back and even with all the craziness within the Cul-de-sac Crew, a tender moment happened when Grayson finally told Jules that he loved her.

When Travis and Kirsten come over to the house for a movie night, Jules tries to prove to Travis that she and Grayson are a better couple than her son and his girlfriend. Jules and Grayson win, but the fact remains that he still hasn’t told her he loves her, even though she dropped the L Word around Thanksgiving. When Jules sees two doves outside her kitchen window, she compares them to her and Grayson. She accidently kills one of the doves when it flies into the frying pan she is using to water the plants outside the window. Grayson tries to make jokes, but Jules feels terrible. Later, when Jules and Grayson are driving, Jules runs over a squirrel. She tries to take it to a vet to bring it back to life, but the vet refuses and Jules gets even more upset.

Elsewhere, Bobby is getting ready for the PGA tour and is trying to get Dr. Pepper (Diet Dr. Pepper, or DPP for short, specifically) to sponsor him. While Kirsten is talking to him, she realizes that he hardly knows anything about current events going on in the world. She decides to educate him a little bit, but the plan backfires. Bobby can only think of all the bad things that are happening around the world and his golf game suffers because of it.

The gang brings Bobby over to Kirsten’s house to make her fix him. When Ellie gets mad at Andy for using one of their jokes on Laurie she tries to get back at him by giving Travis a scalp massage that she usually only gives Andy. In turn, Andy gives Kirsten a massage that is reserved for Ellie. Laurie borrows Kirsten’s clothes and Bobby ends up on her couch. Travis tells Kirsten he warned her about messing with the Cul-de-sac Crew (“You meddled. And now they’ve come for you”).

Jules tries to make Grayson look like a jerk when she gets a squirrel and pretends it is the one that she ran over. Grayson knows she is lying and she admits that she wants him to feel sad about animals like she does. He tells her he isn’t and as she walks away from him, she steps on a lizard and kills it.

Travis and Kirsten try to think of a way to help Bobby forget about the world’s problems.  Kirsten tells Bobby that she doesn’t get depressed about bad news because since she hears it all the time it is just white noise. Travis tries to help Bobby by suggesting to think of a sound that is soothing so he can block out all the bad stuff. Bobby thinks of the fizz from Dr. Pepper and feels better after it works.

Ellie explains to Andy that she was upset because she believed that they were the doves. Their joke was the one thing that they shared together and not with the crew. He comes up with a fake apology note joke for Ellie and everything is right again.

Jules is still upset about killing three animals in one day and her issues with Grayson. She tells him that they are different and maybe they shouldn’t be together. He takes her out to the backyard where everybody else is and shows her the pet cemetery he made for the dove, squirrel, and lizard. She thinks he is mocking her, but he tells her that their differences are why he loves her.

Other good moments:

  • All Busy Phillips scenes: Laurie’s “Bug Hookers” movie idea, making names up for coffee sizes like teenie-tiny, etc.
  • Neighbor Tom and his desperate attempts to join the crew.
  • Finally resolving the Jules and Grayson will he/won't he "I love you" conflict.
