Quick Take: Cougar Town, “Walls”
“I'm gonna say it. The clingy mom act? It's not cute anymore. In fact, it's ugly on you. Just like scarves.” – Ellie

Review: Cougar Town, “Walls”
(S0215) I have been waiting too long for new episodes of Cougar Town and it is about time that the cul-de-sac crew made reappeared (in this case for a special Monday night episode). Needing to make money, Bobby decides that he needs his "luck visor" to help him, but it's located in the time capsule was buried for Travis when he was little. The capsule is somewhere in Jules’ yard and was supposed to be opened when Travis turned 18, but they forgot about it over the years. They tell Travis about the capsule and how there are mementos inside from his childhood and their lives, including an engagement ring that was had belonged to Jules' great-grandmother.
Travis tells Jules that Kirsten got a job offer, but it is in Chicago and he isn’t sure how to keep her in town. When he gets into trying to find the time capsule, Ellie figures out he is after the engagement ring. Jules finally catches on and freaks out at the possibility of Travis getting engaged at the age of 19. She tries to stay out of it, but Grayson and Ellie don’t think she is capable of not meddling in Travis’ life. I think the best lines of the night go to the answer of Jules asking for everyone to give an example of her meddling in Travis’ life. The answers? “Watch him sleep. You scare his girlfriend. You want to live in his blood.” Yes Jules can be overbearing, but only because she cares.
Jules ends up finding the time capsule and hides it from Travis. Ellie tells her that she can’t mess with Travis anymore and needs to accept the fact he needs to make his own decisions. Jules tells her she doesn’t want to take advice from someone that thinks that there is a ghost in her truck (the truck ghost ends up being Jules, of course). Ellie makes her point by calling her mom and showing Jules how their relationship isn’t that great. Ellie tells Jules that if she meddles too much then Travis will feel about her that Ellie does about her mom. Jules realizes Ellie is right and ends up giving the capsule to Travis. Ellie in turn gives Big Carl to Jules, filled full with wine to make her feel better.
Thanks to an idea from Laurie, Bobby decides to sell the “Bobby Cobb Official Competition Penny Can” to make some money. They spend money on a radio ad (ask for Carol, no sex stuff, penny can!), labels, paint cans and a banner, but no one wants to buy Penny Can. Ellie is the only one to call the number to tell them it is a stupid idea. I would buy a penny can just for the rules of the game: “if the penny goes in and out, that’s an automatic drawn-on mustache.” Awesome. Grayson even helps Bobby out and holds a penny can night at his bar. In the end, Bobby makes enough money to make up for what they spent on advertising.
I don’t think I could stop saying how much I love this show. “Walls” was definitely an episode that highlighted the funny and the light heartedness that Cougar Town does so well. If you have not seen an episode of this show, slap out of it and start watching!

Totally agree -- Cougar Town has a zany charm to it that is very unique addictive. It's too bad that the show name continues to chase people awaym but I think that momentum is on its side...
