Golden Globes nominations revealed: cable domination

Cable shows seem to dominate Golden Globes nominations this year with Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and Nurse Jackie leading the charge.

Mad Men and Dexter are the only drama series making a repeat appearance with nominations as the best drama series. The Office was left out of best comedy with The Big C, Big Bang Theory, and Nurse Jackie getting nods. Newcomers in terms of acting awards nominations include Laura Linney for The Big C, Julia Stiles for Dexter, and a supporting acting nod for Scott Caan of Hawaii Five-O.

The big disappointments in my view are the lack of any nominations for Friday Night Lights, Lost, or Community. There is still hope for Friday Night Lights' last season to get nominations next year, but they should be getting them every year! Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton are fantastic as the Taylors and there is hardly a show on television that gets as real as Friday Night Lights does. The final season of Lost received Emmy nominations, but no Golden Globes? Community being left out is disappointing too. Danny Pudi is brilliant as Abed and deserves a nomination for supporting actor. True Blood was left off the list too, but then again its third season wasn’t as good as the previous ones.
