The world is a scary place. The economy is in the dumps, the U.S.'s super-power status is about to overtaken by China, and greed robbed the American people of a precious preseason football game. It seems like everything is changing, and not for the better.
Despite the turbulence surrounding us, we can take solace in the fact that one thing, a universal truth that has been with us since the dawn of time, will never change: fat is funny.
What's funnier than a karate-obsessed, tranny-banging, tribal-tattoo-sporting, professional bad-ass? A karate obsessed, tranny-banging, tribal-tattoo-sporting, professional bad-ass with an extra 50 pounds around his midsection. Duh. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney decided (rather astutely, I might add) that it would be funny if the character Mac, an ultra-vain fitness buff, packed on a bunch of weight. So that's exactly what he did. McElhenney showed up on set to begin filming Always Sunny's seventh season at least 50 pounds heavier.
Apparently McElhenney neglected to inform his It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-stars about his bodily changes. When he arrived on set, the cast and crew was shocked that the formerly svelte Mac had become a sloppy, fat-ass Mac. “It’s been disgusting to watch him go through with this adventure,” Charlie Day, who plays Charlie on IASIP, told Screen Junkies. “We were a little on the fence about it for his own personal health and safety, but it has definitely made Mac a lot funnier,” Charlie went on to say.

I haven't watched It's Always Sunny in several seasons now, so this kind of stunt is designed pretty well for someone like to check back in on the now larger gang. The trailer is pretty damned funny, I have to say.
