Teen Mom Amber Portwood's salary: horsemen of the apocalypse time?

If this is the year the world is supposed to end, then MTV’s Teen Mom Amber Portwood – a name I cringe at putting into digital print – is the herald for the Horsemen. In a recent interview, the she-thing – who still eludes jail-time after having been convicted of domestic battery and felony drug possession – revealed that MTV paid her $280,000 over two six-month contracts.

While the global economy teeters back and forth, and the worldwide sharing of information is under threat of censorship, our half of the globe is more concerned with how much money other people are making, or yet how to become the next picture of reckless irresponsibility for a year.

It’s certainly a sign of the times when hard-working individuals, dedicating most of their waking lives trying to get through the day by the skin of their teeth, are forced to live beneath an attention-starved sorostitute who doesn’t have the looks or talent to make it otherwise. You could easily argue that MTV is enabling her decadent attitude and lifestyle by paying her so much (undeserved) money – but do you really want to defend her?

She knows her status as a future D-list understudy’s hairdresser is vanishing, and now she’s acting out so people will know her name, all while flaunting the money she earned with that same behaviour. Unfortunately, mission accomplished. Hopefully her court-appointed rehabilitation program works as well for us as it should for her, and all traces of MTV’s Teen Moms are purged from our systems forever.

Even worse is that she's admitted to being a pill addict so who knows how much of that money has gone down the proverbial toilet instead of supporting her daughter. Sad.
