Things get a little strange when Emily’s friends pay a visit.

Review: The Bachelorette (Emily Maynard), "Week 3"
(S0803) The first date card of the week arrives at the house and it is for Chris. Emily takes him to the Mint Museum in Charlotte; where they have to backwards rappel to the top of the building because their dinner is on the roof. They have a good conversation with Emily telling him how handsome he is, but things take a halt when she learns he is 25. She finds it a little scary, but he assures her that he is mature and she ends up giving him the date rose. They are treated to an outdoor concert starring country singer Luke Bryan and Chris gets permission to kiss Emily.
Next up is the group date with Charlie, Alejandro, Stevie, Alessandro, Sean, Ryan, John, Michael, Doug, Jef, Tony and Travis. They meet Emily at a park thinking they are going to be playing football or something sporty but Emily has a surprise for them. Four of her good friends are there to interview the men and let her know who they think is a good catch. Cue the montage of embarrassing moments! Stevie dances for the ladies, they ask Sean to take his shirt off, Travis gets made fun of for his ostrich egg and in a clip that they didn’t show until the credits, Alessandro the vampire hunter, admits he lives like a gypsy, he has cheated on a girlfriend before and has had a one night stand.
After the questionnaires, Emily brings out a bunch of kids for the guys to hang out with to see who interacts with them the best. Emily gets some girl time, but is interrupted by Ryan where he proceeds to tell them that Emily is not allowed to gain weight and if she did he “would love her, but not love on her”. Boo, this guy lost some major points in my book. The friends tell Emily they like Sean the best. At the party, Doug admits he is a foster child and this makes Emily cry. Tony confesses to Emily that he misses his son too much and she sends him home. Sean says he hopes to have a happy, long marriage like his parents and he ends up getting the date rose, probably because of the rave reviews he received from her friends.
Arie gets the last date and they end up at Dollywood, which is Disneyland for Emily. They have a really good date and it is especially complete with a visit from Dolly Parton herself. Dolly sings them a song and gives Emily some advice. Emily and Arie share their first kiss and Arie gets the date rose. He is definitely my favorite of the bunch so far.
After the great dates of the week, the rose ceremony doesn’t go as well. Emily talks to Kalon who tells her it hasn’t been his fantasy of his first kid not being his own. He also rudely ] tells her that "I love it when you talk, but I wish you'd let me finish”, when she tries to give him her input on things. Emily looks like a volcano ready to blow, but calmly responds to him.
She later sits down with Alessandro and he tells her that life with her and Ricki would be a “compromise”. Emily seemed confused by this and so did I. It seemed that either Alessandro’s English wasn’t that great, him being Brazilian, or he really just doesn’t want to be a step-dad. Emily didn’t really want to hear his explanation and sent him home before the rose ceremony. She was a little disturbed after, but there is nothing like a kiss from Arie to make it better!
Emily gives roses to Jef, Charlie, Doug, Michael, Travis (R.I.P his ostrich egg Shelly), Alejandro, Ryan, John, Kalon and Nate; leaving Stevie in the dust. Next week is the start of travelling, with Bermuda being the first stop.
