Review: The Bachelor (Brad Womack), "After the Final Rose"
(S1512) Right after the season finale of the Bachelor where Brad Womack chooses Emily Maynard, we were treated to their first public outing as a couple. I have to say it was the weirdest After the Rose special I have seen yet. Well, besides the Jason/Molly/Melissa fiasco a few years ago!

Chantal was brought out first to talk about what happened. Her primary interest was to get some answers from Brad as to why she got dumped. She seemed to still be upset about what happened. I mean, she had a right to be upset, but when she claimed she had already met someone and was in love then why was she still wondering about Brad? Also, how can they date before the finale airs? Does the boyfriend have to sign a contract or something? Anyways, Brad can’t really give her a good answer to why he didn’t choose her, just that he felt more for Emily. Chantal swears that she is happy now and they both congratulate each other.

Chris Harrison talks to Brad alone to reveal that it hasn’t been easy between Brad and Emily. He admits they almost got married, but all of the tabloid rumors have put a damper on their relationship. He also admitted that they had broken up, but Brad did not want to give up on their relationship. Brad says they are still engaged and he loves her very much.

Emily joins him and tells Chris that everything hasn’t been all roses. Even though she is confident in her feelings for him, she doesn’t want to get married right now and doesn’t even want to move to Austin. Cue the gasps from the audience! She points out that it has been hard for her to watch the shows on Monday and it was frustrating that she got edited as the shy, tragic, single mom while Chantal was edited as the fun loving gal. While she was talking, I felt really bad for Brad. The looks on his face were sad and it seemed like he loves her more than she loves him. She didn’t seem like the Emily we knew from the show, but then again I can’t imagine what it is like to hear and read all this bad stuff about each other. Plus, they hardly have seen each other in the past three months and that has to make it even tougher on them.

No worries though with Ali, Roberto, Trista, Ryan, Jason, and Molly there to give the couple advice. These are the three that have made it so far, although Ali and Roberto have yet to wed and wanted to help Emily and Brad with their situation. Molly and Jason probably knows what it feels like to be scrutinized the most because of what happened with him dumping his chosen Melissa for runner-up Molly. I read somewhere that they were called names in public and the online bloggers were not kind to them at all. Yeah, it was crappy of Jason to dump Melissa on TV, but he was just being honest. There probably wasn’t a way around it anyways so thank ABC for doubling his jerkiness. Him and Molly though have been married a year and I commend them on not caring about what other people think.

The three couples let Emily and Brad know that they are the only ones that matter and they need to let go of all the gossip. The only way they will survive is to believe in each other. Good advice and hopefully they will take it. Overall it was a decent season, but the ending was too strange. It seemed like they were in different places and their relationship needed a lot of work, but I for one would like to see it work out. In the end Chris asked them if they see themselves getting married and they both said yes. I am sure someone out there is already taking bets on how long they will last.

In other Bachelor news, the next Bachelorette has been chosen and Ashley Herbert will be the next lady to hand out the roses and the season will premiere on May 23rd. Plus, The Bachelor has also been renewed for another season and Bachelor Pad 2 will premiere sometime in the summer. So don’t worry, there will be enough trash TV to choose from between now and September! Here’s to another Bachelor journey and hoping this one works out for the best.

Yeah, there were several Awkward Alerts throughout this one!

Did they announce Ashley as the next bachelorette at the end of the hour? I was waiting for it and then kind of faded out. I had a strong sense that Ashley would be chosen though.
