Review: The Bachelorette (Ashley Hebert), "Week 4"
(S0704) This week kicked off with the news that the men were to move out of the mansion "forever" and were heading to Thailand. All the guys are excited to go and ready to change things up. Even though she is in Thailand and has some great guys wanting to spend time with her, Ashley is still pining for (jerk) Bentley.

When the guys arrive in Phuket, Constantine is given the first date card. Ashley and Constantine encounter a stormy sea, which forces their boat trip to be canceled. They opt for a “local” date instead and walk around the streets of Phuket. After strolling around town, they have dinner at the beach. It kind of seems that the couple lacks chemistry, but Ashley isn’t feeling that way considering that she gives him the date rose after they chat.

The group date is next for Ashley, and she selects Ben F., JP, Blake, Mickey, West, Ben C., Nick, Lucas, William, and Ryan to the Baan San Fan orphanage (you can find info or donate here). Their job for the day is to spruce up the orphanage for the kids living there, who had lost their parents during the 2004 tsunami. Even though The Bachelorette can be a little sleazy at times, I have to admit these types of dates are impressive. Not only did they clean up the place, but toys and bedding were provided for the kids as well.

For some reason, Ryan P. starts to get on everybody’s nerves. Apparently the men don’t like a little guidance during their work or can’t stand someone who is cheerful. This drama spills into the evening, especially when Ryan P. pulls Ashley aside right before she gives the date rose out. It doesn’t really help Ryan P. anyway as Ben F. gets the rose since he impressed Ashley earlier and gave her a kiss.

The last date of the week goes to Ames. This guy hasn’t really had much camera time thus far, but after this date even I was impressed. Ashley and Ames enjoy a kayaking date and then engage in some good conversation at dinner. Ames seems like a decent guy and after their date he shot up to the top of the list of my guys that I like best.

At the cocktail party, Ashley gets some face time with the other guys who she hasn’t talked to all week. She confronts West about being ready to date in the wake of his wife's death and she is worried about the shoes she needs to fill. He reassures her that everything is fine. Lucas later gets grilled on why his marriage failed. While this is going on, Blake full on tells Ryan P. that all the guys think that he is annoying. Ryan P. gets a little sensitive and even more sensitive when Ashley brings this up too while they are chatting. He doesn’t understand what is wrong with not being grumpy.

Chris Harrison comes to break up the party as he always does and takes Ashley back to the deliberation room to have a pre-ceremony chat. She admits that she is still hung up on Bentley and thinks about the “what if” and his “dot dot dot” crap. They talk about her dates and she says that she was sure she wasn’t going to give Ames a rose, but their date completely changed her mind. Ashley is unsure about which two to send home so she asks Chris to let her send only one guy home instead. At the rose ceremony Lucas, Ryan P., JP, Nick, Mickey, Blake, William, and Ben C. are given roses with Constantine, Ben F. and Ames already having them. Overall it was a pretty drama-free week for Ashley. I am still unsure how I feel about this season and which man seems like the best one for Ashley in the end.
