Review: The Bachelorette (Ashley Hebert), "Week 8"
(S0708) This episode was especially light on drama as Ashley visited the families of her four remaining suitors. Ashley travelled to Cumming, Georgia first to meet Constantine’s family and the scene there instantly reminded me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It came replete with the visit from all the aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. The visit to Constantine's restaurant included cheesy lines and stealing a kiss while the waitresses watched and giggled. His mom said it best by mentioning that, “Everything's wonderful when you're jetted away to these awesome places... but in the real world it's different."
Ashley next travels to Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania next to visit with Ames and his family. I can’t say enough about how much I like Ames. You could really tell that he was genuinely into Ashley, but she was not into him as much. Ames’ sister could also tell and tried to get Ashley to admit it. I don’t think Ashley got to know Ames as much because his mother told her how his father and stepfather had died, but Ashley had no idea about it. The only thing she is really worried about though is if there is enough passion between them and she doesn’t think there is any.
Ashley then heads off to Sonoma, California to see Ben and his family. There wasn’t much interaction with his family and it seemed like a dull visit. Ben’s mom is wary of the process and his sister warned Ashley that she is protective of him. JP’s hometown date is just as dull with him taking Ashley to a roller rink and then his mom telling Ashley how protective of him she is.
After the hometown dates, it is Ames who is denied a rose. It's sad to see him go. I think the final decision will end up between Ben and JP. She seems to be more into the two guys and gets excited when she sees them. Honestly, I think this is the first season where I don’t really have a preference of who she chooses. This has been such a lackluster edition of The Bachelorette that I want it to be over with and am ready to move on to Bachelor Pad, where the real drama and backstabbing will take place!
Speaking of Bachelor Pad, Ames has finally been announced as the last cast member and the list is now complete. This is a little disappointing, I was hoping for him to be the next Bachelor, but it don’t matter as long as he is kept on my television screen! Bachelor Pad will premiere on August 8 at 8pm on ABC and with all the drama there was between Jake and Vienna, the premiere is now three hours long.

I am likely the only person on the planet who thinks this but I am endlessly fascinated by Ames only because he sounds remarkably like Paul Scheer.
