Review: The Bachelorette (Ashley Hebert), "Week 9"
(S0709) This is it Bachelorette junkies. We are now down to the final two men, but the fantasy suites needed to make an appearance before the annointed two were chosen. Ashley, Ben, JP, and Constantine jetted off to Fiji this week for the three semi-finalist one-on-one dates, but before that happened Ryan P. showed up to ask Ashley for another shot. More on this later, as Ashley went on two dates before giving Ryan an answer.

Ben was up first and it seems that Ashley has good chemistry with him. They took a nice cruise around the islands and I must say how gorgeous Fiji is. I think the scenery from all the dates is what kept me most interested in this episode! Ben is ready to have a life with Ashley and of course he says yes to the fantasy suite card at the end of the date.

Constantine had the next date. I think the family episode is where I finally warmed up to him. Just after we got to learn more about him though and see some chemistry with Ashley, Constantine pulls the rug out as Ashley offers him the fantasy suite card. He admits that he just isn’t that into her and Ashley is surprised. Constantine tells her that he couldn’t accept the fantasy offer knowing that he isn’t in love with her.  I was highly impressed by Constantine’s speech and this is probably one of the few decent things that has happened on this show. Of course Ashley goes into her shame spiral and is now afraid that Ben or JP will reject her in the end. This girl needs to get some confidence and she needs to realize not everybody is going to fall in love with her.

In the morning, Constantine’s decision has apparently given Ashley some “clarity” and she goes off to break Ryan’s heart, again. She tells him she doesn’t feel passion with him like she does with the two men that remain on the island. It was really awkward watching their scenes together because as Ryan was declaring his feelings, Ashley looked like she could care less. Ryan went home with his head down and I have a feeling this is not the last time we will be seeing him. By the way, the new Bachelor season will premiere next January!

JP has the last date and he tells Ashley he wants everything to be over and be the last one standing. I think this declaration will come true, but for some reason I would like to see Ben as the one Ashley chooses to be with. He just seems really sincere, whereas JP seems cocky.

Ashley meets with Chris Harrison and decides that she does want a rose ceremony, despite there not needing to be one since Constantine had left. She tells Chris she wants to make sure Ben and JP are going to accept the roses, which they do.

Something about this episode that I found funny is that people always seemed surprised to get the fantasy suite date card, which makes me wonder if they are told to act this way. This show has been on for how many seasons and they still don’t know? One thing that is not a surprise is Ben and JP ending up as the last two men. Two things I am more excited about than watching Ashley pick her last suitor are the Men Tell All special, airing July 31 at 9pm, and the premiere of Bachelor Pad airing August 8 at 8pm (both on ABC). Let the drama and backstabbing continue!

I'm thinking Constantine or the finalist who does not get chosen get the inside slot to be the next Bachelor.

This season has been a snoozer and agreed that Fiji was the star of this episode !
