Review: The Challenge: Battle of The Exes, "Where Did Our Love Go?"
(S1203) Watch your back, Trebek. T.J. Lavin's gunnin for ya. On last night's episode of The Challenge: Battle of The Exes, our beloved BMXer tried his hand at hosting a trivia contest, with hilarious results.
This being The Challenge, and not stuffy, boring old Jeopardy, the trivia competition has a twist: the contestants are placed atop wooden catapults and if the get a question wrong, they are launched into a body of water. The Challenge eschews popular Jeopardy categories like Potent Potables, Before and After and Word Origins, instead opting for more challenging categories like Celebrity Couples, The Challenge History, and Fifth Grade Spelling Bee.
Not surprisingly, the contestants struggle to come up with correct answers. I mean, who can blame them? Don't sweat it Cara Maria, I thought Guy Richie starred in I Am Sam and Milk too. I honestly don't whether to commend or condemn Abram for not knowing the name of Britney Spears' baby-daddy.
I do know that lame-ass Jeopardy doesn't end each episode with Alex Trebek congratulating the players by saying, "Now that was a gnarly challenge!" God bless you, T.J. Lavin. You might have a seventh grade reading level, but boy are you a wizard with catchphrases. T.J., you sir, are killin' it.
When the dust settles on the trivia contest, Paula and Dunbar emerge as champions and my favorite squad, Leroy and Naomi, are once again headed for the elimination round. As the new Power Couple, Paula and Dunbar vote in Ty and Emily. Ty and Emily are selected to go into The Dome because Paula is afraid of Emily (what with Emily being like 6'5'', 235 lbs. and all) and hopes she will be sent home before she can any damage to the other female competitors.
