TV Geek Army Field Report: none more ordinary edition

Now that the excitement of new and returning shows coming at us fast and furiously like is starting to subside, I’m kind of realizing that there aren’t a goodly lot of new shows that are really setting the world ablaze this season.

chiklis

In fact, Sunday night’s Boardwalk Empire (HBO) and The Walking Dead (AMC) seem to be the most compelling first season shows of the moment that one would truly be insane (or at least not a Card Carrying Member of the TVGA) to not park in front of television set to imbibe (can one or many imbibe from a TV? I’m saying that one or many can right here).

No Ordinary Family and Detroit 1-8-7 come particularly mind for tonight. Both had auspicious starts, but now? They’re hanging on at watchable… sort of. And let’s face it: I gave up hope on Raising Hope and turned unwild on Running Wilde long ago.

But wait! There’s Nick Swardson and his Pretend Time to the rescue… ah, lords bless our twisted Mr. Swardson.

Onward bravely then. Here’s tonight’s TV:

Now that Paul Kinsey (Michael Gladis) made a brief but splashy and phenomenal return during last night's Mad Men episode, "Christmas Waltz," there remains only one significant advertising pro from the early seasons who has not made an appearance in the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce era.
