TV Geek Army Field Report: wheelchair cat edition

If you're hip to Nick Swardson, then you know: he is the greatest human being to inhabit the planet Earth: past, present, future, and past perfect too.

Therefore, the stakes could not be higher for the premiere of Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, a sketch comedy show that brings us the fury of such characters as Gary Gaga, the Wheelchair Cat, and of course, Gay Robot himself.

A lot of other hot shows on tonight as well of course, ranging from the musical and performance-y fiesta of Glee and Dancing With the Stars to the gritty glory of Sons of Anarchy. That being said, I'll be glued to Flipping Out's season finale.

Meanwhile, check out recent TVGA coverage of excellence, including a new column called Mary's Week in TV Geek, where our good Sir Mary runs down Glee, The Event, and Fringe this week. Also, Adam's all over How I Met Your Mother's Subway Wars, while Erin is locked onto Dancing With the Star's acoustic jam.

Now that Paul Kinsey (Michael Gladis) made a brief but splashy and phenomenal return during last night's Mad Men episode, "Christmas Waltz," there remains only one significant advertising pro from the early seasons who has not made an appearance in the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce era.

I know it's not fashionable or cutting edge or cool but we're NCIS fans.  We've got the seasons on DVD and they're good, easy fun.

There was a fun moment on tonight's episode where Mark Harmon's character, described in another episode as a functional mute, corrects someone who described him as John Wayne.  His retort?  Gary Cooper.  Reminded me of Tony Soprano and his desire to be one of those strong, silent types.

That's why we ask "do we care," Josh, to see if anyone does !

On a Sopranos note: I love that Tony mentions "the strong, silent type" throughout the series, and brings it up yet again while seeing a new therapist (in the wake of AJ's attempted suicide) in one of the final episodes, pretty much relating that all of his years of therapy had done approximately nil in moving him along in self-awareness.

That's a really good point about Sopranos, Eric.  He still thought of himself as that guy or spent his time trying to be that guy rather than seeing himself for who he was and dealing with that.  Man, I loved that series.

I could easily take a week out and watch the entire series end to end... yeah, I got the tv geek in me.
