Review: American Idol, "Nashville, TN Auditions"
(S1004) It's the fourth week of auditions, and we're still going strong, though maybe a little less strong then previous weeks of this season's American Idol. Am I the only one who thought there were an awful lot of commercials this week? Are there always that many and I just never noticed them somehow?

Anyway, Nashville is one of those cities known for its music, and the ones who had the talent really brought it during auditions. And those who didn't? Well, that looks like it's universal -- those who can't sing are crazy all over, and Nashville started out with a really delusional one! Overall, this wasn't a bad episode, but there has been so much superlative talent across the board that this one just felt sort of middle of the road in comparison. Either way, though, we met the following characters: The Duet Exes, Miss Teen USA, Farmgirl, The Younger Woman (inspiration for the quote above), Big Ol' Boy, and Baby Big Hair. All in all not bad.

Next episode looks mean, though.

More thoughts on American Idol, "Nashville, TN Auditions":

  • Randy was so grumpy this week! He's channeling Simon all over the place and keeps getting hit by J-Lo.
  • They didn't tell us how many got through! But they also didn't end on a horribly sad story, so I guess I can overlook it.
  • The rejections cried a lot, but there wasn't a lot of the usual weirdness and drama -- maybe Nashville is just a more sincere city than the others.
  • That's about the prettiest Auditorium I've ever seen.
