Review: Bachelor Pad 3, "Week 1"
(S0301) I don’t know why I feel worse about watching Bachelor Pad then I do about The Bachelor, but I do and it probably has something to do with all of the extra sleaziness factor. This season, it is not only the rejects from ‘Bachelor’ and the ‘Bachelorette’ seasons, but some fans of the shows have been thrown into the mix.

The episode starts off with introductions of a few of the contestants. Chris from Emily’s season is up first and he is coming from a recent heartbreak after being sent home from the hometown dates.  He wants to meet Lindzi from Ben’s season and of course she is also going to be in the house. Reid is back, from Jillian’s season, and doesn’t want Ed to get in his way of love. Ed seems like he just wants to have a good time and admits to the camera “there was certainly some truth to what was in the tabloids.” I bet Jillian is glad that she dodged that bullet.

Blakeley, the cocktail waitress from Ben’s season, is hoping Jaclyn, also from Ben's season, is going to be on the show so she can have a friend. Jaclyn is feeling the exact opposite and claims they are “frienemies”. Kalon, whose claim to fame is calling Emily's daughter "baggage", has a creepy ‘American Pyscho’ introduction package and he definitely wants to keep his role as the villain.

Lastly, we are introduced to the five fans that have given up their dignity to be on this show.  There is Chris who is a SWAT team guy and who I hope doesn’t really watch the ‘Bachelorette’ with a glass of wine and pajamas on. There is Donna, who with her assets and spray tan seem made for this show. David is a real estate agent who wants to meet Lindzi and Blakeley. Paige seems to be too innocent to be on this show. Last is Brittany and Erica, a set of twins who are only counted as one vote.

As the limos arrive we get to see the rest of the cast, along with the smack talk that starts immediately as people begin to come into the house. When Reid says hi to Ed, he immediately begins to make fun of how Reid came back to Jillian after being dumped and you can tell there is still tension between the two men. Rachel and Jaclyn are automatically fake to Blakeley and tell the camera how much they hate her. Michael Stagliano, previous ‘Bachelor Pad’ winner and the most adorable contestant ever, is back and ready to win again.

Kalon and Erica hate each other already, since Erica told the tabloids stuff about Kalon. Everybody hates the fans because they feel like the fans don’t deserve to be there. Reality check, no one deserves to be put through this much of a shame spiral. Ed gets very drunk and can’t even keep it together long enough to listen to Chris Harrison explain all the rules.

Morning comes and the first challenge is upon the contestants. Everybody had to pick a partner the night before and in the challenge each couple has to be suspended up in the air in a giant heart that is being lifted by a crane. The heart will then be tilted every few minutes. The first out are Erica and Nick and unfortunately that comes with an automatic vote against them at the rose ceremony. Everybody tries to hold on but it is the fans, David and Brittany, who are victorious. They get the roses and they get a date to the Santa Monica Pier.

I had a hard time watching their date because anybody can go to the pier, but they talked as if only the powers that be at ABC are the only ones allowed. I find these fans to be annoying and then of course they go skinny dipping. The drama is better at the house between Blakeley, Chris and Jamie, which to me was just ridiculous. Since Chris was Blakeley’s partner in the challenge, she thinks he can’t hang out with anybody else and yada, yada, yada. The whole confrontation is stupid.

The next day is rose ceremony day and everyone scrambles to see who is voting for who. Super fan David decides it is smart to tell Erica that she is being voted out and the fans have a plan to take down the veterans. This is a huge mistake on David’s part. These people are never going to let outsiders take their money so of course Erica is not going to let this happen. Reid tries to save new girl Paige, but even with a couple of people on his side to vote Erica Rose out, he has no such luck. At the rose ceremony, with David and the twins Brittany and Erica already safe, Chris, Sarah, Ed, Rachel, Reid, Jaclyn, Mike Stag, Jamie, Kalon, Blakeley, Ryan, Donna, Tony, Nick, and Erica Rose all get roses. Super fans Chris and Paige are sent packing. From the first moment they said fans were coming on the show you knew they wouldn’t last long.

It was an interesting first night and the previews make it seem like we are in for a wild ride. I would have like to have seen Erica go home because she is annoying and Ed’s admission made me like him less. Out of everybody I would like to see Rachel, Nick, Chris or Reid at the end.
