Castle, "Pandora": CIA? I'd rather be FBI

Quick Take: Castle, "Pandora"
Castle and Beckett work a case with the CIA.

Castle

Review: Castle, "Pandora"
(S0415) I watch Castle because I love the characters and the relationships between them. The dialogue is so funny and natural that I always have a smile on my face when the episode is over. However, what the show doesn't have is consistently interesting mysteries.

Most of the time, the crime or mystery on Castle is pretty run of the mill. It seems like they're usually just an excuse for one or more characters to realize something about themselves during the investigation. This episode is different in that after the victim and the murderer both disappeared from the precinct, I was riveted.

I have always wondered if there were other officials that Castle (Nathan Fillion) shadowed to help with a book. Involving the CIA instead of just another cop was a great idea for many reasons. The fact that Captain Gates (Penny Johnson Jerald) was kept out of the loop was reason enough. I'm sure the hostile relationship between her and the rest of the squad will get old someday but for now, I'm enjoying it.

The whole Pandora/espionage/spy craziness was pretty engaging. It was certainly more than I expected from a show like Castle. I only wish there was more for the other detectives to do. As much as I enjoy looking at Jennifer Beals, she just isn't a strong enough actress to make me believe she's any kind of a law official.

In closing, the Moonlighting-esque nature of Castle and Beckett's (Stana Katic) relationship is wearing thin and if somebody doesn't make a move in part two, I will be very disappointed.
