Christina Hendricks feels the Need for Speed during Mad Men's hiatus

Earlier this year, we reported that a bunch of Mad Men alums got involved with one of the year's biggest videogame releases, L.A. Noire. Christina Hendricks was not involved in that project but has picked up a major acting gig of her own on Need for Speed: The Run during the long break between Mad Men Seasons Four and Five.

"Hendricks stars in the game as Sam Harper, a wealthy woman who manages the best drivers in the cutthroat world of outlaw street racing. She teams up with a young driver, Jack Rourke (Sean Faris, The Vampire Diaries), for a cross-country race for a $25 million prize," The Hollywood Reporter relays.

If Need for Speed: The Run is anything like L.A. Noire, it will give Hendricks ample opportunity to show off her acting chops above and beyond the fantastic performance she has put in over four seasons on Mad Men, albeit in a supporting role. L.A. Noire's extraordinary, almost eerie motion capture technology gave Aaron Staton (Kenny Cosgrove on Mad Men), as LAPD officer/detective Cole Phelps, ample opportunity to ham it up as he took down bad guys and corrupt politicians on the gritty streets of post-World War II Los Angeles.

Check out the trailer for Need for Speed: The Run:

While this is only one glimpse at Need for Speed: The Run, it looks as though the emphasis is on the cross-country race, which makes sense, so it remains to be seen if Hendricks and Faris will be an integral part of the action or will simply appear in between racing segments via cut scenes.
