Review: Dancing With the Stars 13, "Week 7 Results"
(S1315) Dancing With the Stars made the most of its performance night, which coincided with Halloween this season. Pumpkins, spiders, and ghosts helped to decorate the dance floor.

Sitting on top of the leaderboard once again this week is Ricki and Derek, whose paso doble earned them a twenty-seven. One thing to note about their performance was that they were the only couple who were given a modern song to dance to -- Beyoncé’s "Sweet Dreams" -- while the other couples danced to movie/show themes or songs from quite a few years back. It just didn't seem right in my opinion. Ricki is reminiscent of one of Derek's former partners, Jennifer Grey, whose back injury plagued her for much of Season 11. This time though it's an inflamed nerve in Ricki's ribs that had her in pain. Of course there was a doctor's appointment that was filmed to let us know that Ricki is a real trooper since most athletes wouldn't be allowed to play with such an injury. Seriously, do we really need all this drama?

The break-out performance of this week goes tko Rob and Cheryl whose tango earned them a twenty-five tying them for second place with JR and Karina. They received a standing ovation and Carrie Ann declared this Rob's best dance. JR and Karina performed the tango as well but it felt flat and was out of sync at times. I don't know if it was for show or if the pressure is getting to JR but it was the first time we saw him and Karina butt heads during rehearsal. Why can't everyone be like David Arquette? I don't think I have seen him and Kym argue once this season.

After last week's controversy with Maks and Hope I am sure everyone was eager to see if Hope would step up to the plate and deliver a winning performance. Unfortunately Maks hurt his toe this week so he had to call in help from one of the troupe dancers to teach her the steps to the samba. She was quick to point out that she learned the steps quicker with Maks' stand-in than she ever did with him. Did she realize before saying that that was sort of an insult? Ultimately their performance earned them eights all around for a total of twenty-four.

Following the individual performances the remaining six couples performed their group performances. Going first was Team Tango which consisted of JR and Karina, David and Kym and Nancy and Tristan. All three judges came to the same conclusion, the group performance was good but the individual performances of each couple were full of mistakes. They earned a twenty-three. Next up was Team Paso comprised of Ricki and Derek, Rob and Cheryl and Hope and Maks. Their paso doble performance earned each of them an additional twenty-six points and praises from each of the judges.

On Tuesday night's result show Justin Bieber performed, I guess if I was one of the millions who adored him I would have been more excited. I did enjoy listening to Boyz II Men sing a duet with him, although I didn't realize they were down to four members now? In the AT&T Spotlight Performance Victoria Viven danced to the music of Christina Perri's "Arms." I'm wondering if they are testing Carson Kressley out to be some sort of special correspondent for the show. While he was voted off two weeks ago he has continued to make appearances on the show. This week he was given a microphone and was out interviewing audience members before they were let into the studio and inside the studio he interviewed some of the stars' family members to get their take on how things are going. I think he would be a nice addition to the show.

So this week I was really shocked and a bit upset with who got voted off. David Arquette has to hang up his dancing shoes so close to the end of the competition. I was really hoping he would make it further. I feel like he brought a breath of fresh air to the competition with his carefree attitude and his hard work. He never brought any of the drama that so many of the other competitors bring to the dance floor. He was there to have fun and it definitely showed. Maybe the producers of the show should think about giving the judges a safe card or something so they can save a couple from elimination.

Next week the remaining five couples will be dancing two dances as the return of the instant dance will have them on their toes.
