Review: Dancing With the Stars 13, "Week 9 Results"
(S1319) I honestly think that this has been one of the most lackluster seasons of Dancing With the Stars to date. Competitors who would have made these final weeks a lot more entertaining were voted out far too soon. First the couples danced their individual dances: Hope and Maks and JR and Karina danced the paso doble, while Rob and Cheryl and Ricki and Derek danced the samba. After that they each danced the Argentine tango and then finally they did a cha cha relay dance.

First up on the dance floor was Hope and Maks and I hate to say it, but Hope is hopeless as a dancer. Her paso doble lacked any kind of grace or finesse. She honestly felt that since she was in character that should have been enough for them to get decent scores. They ended up with a twenty-one. Their tango wasn't much better. After the judges critique she went on to say that she felt as though the judges wanted her gone the first day of the competition. Someone doesn't know a thing or two about constructive criticism. And finally, in the cha cha relay they came in last earning only four points. Hope and Maks finished Monday night dead last with a 49 out of a possible 70.

JR and Karina took to the dance floor next. Their paso doble was no surprise a hundred times better, even with JR nursing a twisted ankle - although the judges did knock him for having bad posture. Their tango earned them a 27 and while it did look good I felt that there wasn't much dancing but just a bunch of lifts here, there and everywhere. In the cha cha relay they came in third and finished the night with a total of 56.

My new favorite competitor Rob and his partner Cheryl hit the dance floor third dancing a samba that was fun and full of energy. The judges loved it and it earned a 28, the highest score Rob has received in this competition. Their tango was strong as well. It seems like they focused more on the dancing than attempting to do crazy lifts. And in the cha cha relay Rob and Cheryl took first place earning them an additional ten points and they finished the night in second place with a 65.

Dancing last but coming in first for the night was Ricki and Derek who earned a combined score of sixty-seven for their three dances. Their samba earned a perfect thirty and quite honestly I found it boring and lacking of energy. The judges have their favorites and they definitely score accordingly. I feel like Ricki was fishing for complements also. After each of her dances she walked over to the judges acting like she was really disappointed with her performance.

On Tuesday night's result show Cobra Starship and Sabi sang their platinum hit "You Make Me Feel." This was definitely the most energetic performance since LMFAO performed earlier this season. And the Macy's Design A Dance was finally revealed. Anna and Derek danced the paso doble to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." I must say watching the pros and stars dance together is nice but, watching the pros dance together is always more enjoyable.

After viewer votes and the judge’s scores were tallied together it was Hope and Maks who were sent home this week one week shy of the finals. While it must be upsetting to come so close and not be able to go all the way, Hope's dancing was just nowhere near the caliber of that of Ricki, JR and Rob. I honestly think she should have gone home a few weeks ago.

We may be looking at one of the best finales in recent years shaping up. All three of the couples headed to the finals actually deserve to be there and in my opinion each of them has a fair chance of winning. I can't wait to see what each of them comes up with for their freestyle dance. It's been said to make or break the final decision as to who should win the coveted mirror ball trophy.
