Dancing With the Stars, "Week 10": redemption time

Quick Take: Dancing With the Stars, "Week 10"
“Did I just see Bristol Palin dancing in a cage?” – Carrie Ann Inaba

Review: Dancing With the Stars, "Week 10"
This week on Dancing with the Stars was the final performances for the celebrities and it was their time to prove why they deserve to win the mirror ball trophy. The finalists -- Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin -- danced a redemption number and the freestyle. The redemption dances were a chance for the finalists to have a re-do of a dance that they had done previously but weren’t that great at. Freestyle gave them a chance to do what they feel, lifts included.

Is it just me or is anybody else relieved that this season is over? Yes, I am one of those people that doesn't like it when it is blatantly obvious who is going to win from the beginning so I definitely lose interest throughout the season when it gets even more obvious.

Overall, Jennifer has been the best dancer and most likely will win, but for me I would like to see Kyle take the trophy. He has been the only one that really seems like he is enjoying himself, has worked hard, and has improved a lot from the beginning. For me this show is about progressing, not being the best from the start. Tune in tonight to find out who will take the trophy home.

Scores for the night:

Jennifer Grey – redemption, 30/30; freestyle, 30/30; 60/60
No surprise here that Jennifer received a perfect 60 for the night. She did a lot better at the paso doble the second time around. I liked her freestyle, but thought doing something related to Dirty Dancing was too original. Who wasn’t expecting this? She has been the favorite to win all season and probably will.

Kyle Massey – redemption, 27/30; freestyle, 29/30; 56/60
Kyle chose to do his foxtrot over again and it worked a lot better for him this time around. His freestyle was fun and entertaining, which is exactly what they should be. I didn’t really see a reason why he didn’t get 30 for this dance.

Bristol Palin – redemption, 27/30; freestyle, 25/30; 52/60
Bristol has had a hard week. Since she made the finale there have been plenty of people discussing how she shouldn’t have even be there. She had the chance to prove them wrong, but didn’t do it. She and Mark chose to redo their jive from Week Five that she only received an eighteen for. I thought their score of 27 last night was a little too high. Her technique was better, but she lacked the energy of the jive. Her freestyle only received a 25 and in past competitions, the freestyle has been the make it or break it dance. If Bristol does win this competition then it is for the wrong reasons.

Your take on Kyle makes a lot of sense, Erin. This is not a pro competition so therefore progress and attitude should have much to do with it. Still, I get frustrated with all shows that let the audience decide the outcome so I'll leave it there :-)
