Eureka

Review: Eureka, "This One Time, at Space Camp..."
(S0418) This episode had me conflicted. On the one hand, I love origin stories, but on the other hand, I hate the poor choice in casting that is usually made. It's pretty cool seeing how Zane (Niall Matter) began his life of genius related crime, but that little kid who played him didn't even have two percent of the charisma required to be “Li'l Zane.”

The same goes for past Fargo. The kid is just not a good enough actor. Although, the fact that his flashback starred The Chief from Battlestar (Aaron Douglas) certainly softened the blow. It was even better that they didn't try to imply that he was the same character since we all know that would be impossible. Right, nerds?

That being said, "Tiny Jo" was adorable and made the other flashbacks totally worth it.

I understand that the closer we get to the launching of the Astraeus mission, the more things are going to go wrong but shouldn't such an important facility have better safeguards? I feel like I'm watching classic Star Trek every time something horrible happens. Moreover, don't they know that if they spill water on something, it's going to cause a huge problem? Geniuses, my ass.

This episode highlighted one of the main reasons I watch this show, the creative casting. The fact that they were smart enough to add Felicia Day to the cast this season is just one of the brilliant choices they have made and the cast just gets better every season.

In closing, am I the only one who wants to see a spinoff with Wil Wheaton and Wallace Shawn as crime-solving geniuses?

That was a great episode! I thought the casting of the children was pretty good. I’ve been looking forward to new episodes of Eureka since I started getting caught up on old ones at DISHOnline.com. That’s where my TV provider/employer hosts thousands of movies and TV shows to watch On Demand. I was really getting in to the show when I found out that Syfy has canceled the show. I hope they make some movies like they did to wrap up Stargate. A Wil Wheaton spinoff would rule!

The cancellation of this show makes no sense. It's one of the few shows on SYFy that is smart, funny and entertaining.
