Review: Gossip Girl, "The Undergraduates"
(S0403) This season Gossip Girl leaves NYU and turns to Columbia University . Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively) arrive together for the first day of classes, but they are a little unsettled as they find the Gossip Girl site under construction. Without the direction of Gossip Girl, the two decide the most important task to take in hand (no, not the syllabus) is to join the highly coveted social group Hamilton House. The key master of Hamilton House turns out to be Juliet (Katie Cassidy) and she only has a key for Blair. Blaire is eager to be a part of Hamilton House and gets drawn into Juliet’s spell. She blows off Serena for martinis with Juliet and Hamilton House.  Serena confronts Juliet and is informed she was removed from the H.H. list because Blaire told alumni about her sex tape. Nate (Chase Crawford) also snubs Serena.

Rufus (Matthew Settle) tells his son Dan (Penn Badgley) that he is not the biological father of Georgina’s baby. Dan tries to locate Georgina, but according to Gossip Girl she is on a beach in St. Bart’s.  While he may not be the baby’s father he refuses to put him in foster care. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) offers to move in with him to help out with the baby. But no worries, Georgina arrives with a lengthy story of Cossacks chasing her and trying to kill her or recruit her to be a spy. (Even Dan looked confused.)

Chuck (Ed Westwick) asks Lily (Kelly Rutherford) for forgiveness for the Jenny incident and to meet his European heroine, Eva, he has brought back to NYC. They plan to do introductions at Fashion’s Night Out. Eva is nervous after a run it with Blair. Lily convinces Rufus to forgive Chuck, which he does until his stepson Eric gives him more reason not to. At Fashion Night he confronts Chuck.  Chuck tells Eva about his less than perfect past.

At Fashion’s Night Out, Serena and Blair get into a fight, which is streaming live on Gossip Girl, and Juliet conveniently connects her phone to the TV screens for all to see. When Juliet announces, “We have to save our sister from that crazy bitch!” and draws back the curtain, Blaire and Serena are enjoying champagne as they have set up Juliet for her antics. Lily (conveniently an alumni) removes Juliet from Hamilton House and hands the key to Serena. The balance of the universe restored.

Or is it... Juliet goes to visit a prisoner, whom she informs, “The girls are a bit more of a challenge,” telling him she will “get it done”.
