Review: NCIS, "Restless"
(S0902) This is my kind of NCIS. A guy walks into a surprise party and falls on the floor dead. This sort of straight up murder mystery is what makes NCIS so much better than other military based dramas.
I am also a big fan of the characters. Knowing that Abby (Pauley Perette) went to her homecoming dance with multiple partners is the kind of detail that still makes the show interesting after nine seasons.
The key to a successful episode like this one is the balance between the main plotline and relationship between the characters. Tony's (Michael Weatherly) attempt to locate Stinky John was a fun and interesting look into his past. By now, we've all accepted that Tony is a jerk, but he's the kind of jerk who always ends up doing the right thing, hence his motivation to right a past wrong. On the other hand, there's McGee (Sean Murray) who has such strong issues regarding high school that he would rather not even talk about them. The writers put these two guys together to show how different and yet how alike they are. These are the kinds of relationships that make a strong series.
I had a feeling that when Lindsey (Bonnie Dennison) gave Gibbs (Mark Harmon) that cup of coffee, she was probably hiding something big. In my experience, no teenager even knows how to order a decent cup of coffee, let alone make one.
It was interesting to see this story play out. The ending totally made sense and instead of Lindsey being the murderer, she was just nuts. No wonder everyone thought she was seventeen.
