Psych, "Shawn Interrupted": psych-otic

Quick Take: Psych, "Shawn Interrupted"
"What are you telling me? That you're a Kenny G fan?" - Shawn

Review: Psych, "Shawn Interrupted"
(S0606) I actually love the idea of throwing a party for yourself to celebrate a personal or professional victory. Sure, it's weird but who doesn't love an excuse to eat and drink with friends? That punch looked tasty.

I get very excited when an episode starts the way this one did. Everybody is on the same page which means we don't have to deal with Lassiter (Tim Omundson) fighting with Shawn (James Roday) and Shawn fighting with Henry (Corbin Bernsen). I think more episodes should be a team effort like this one. It gives every actor a chance to show off.

I really like all the references to Cuckoos Nest. The Chief and Billy were welcome sights. It's just too bad the best guest star they could get was Molly Ringwald. I was never a fan of her work and I didn't understand why she was in this episode. She did very little and what little she did was unimpressive. Even in the final reveal, her admission that she had hippie parents was so humorless that I felt like I was watching one of her many crappy movies from the 80's.

I was, however, impressed with Julianna Guill as Vivienne. In addition to being insanely hot, I liked the whole idea of Gus (Dule Hill) trying to start a relationship with her. Her simplistic portrayal of a disturbed woman was cute and real.

I have to agree with Shawn. If not for the whole stigma of being labeled a nut job and having no legal rights, life in an institution seems pretty relaxing. I might have to give it a shot.
