Sons of Anarchy, "Authority Vested": getting affairs in order

(S0502) If feels like the calm before the storm, as Jax decided to take care of a few things before turning himself, along with Chibs and Tig, in to the police. Opie had a change of heart, Unser started an investigation into the home invasions that were plauging the club and we learned a little more about the mysterious Nero.

Nero’s escort service became the rendezvous point for the Sons as Jax and Chibs continued to hide out. Word of Tig’s misfortune got to their ears and after they found out about Dawn, they decided it was best to find Tig’s other daughter and keep her safe. They meet with the club’s lawyer and Jax tells her about the RICO case. He wants her to find out about Otto’s confession and who the other snitch may be with no one knowing except Sheriff Roosevelt that it was Juice.

Clay calls to tell Jax about the home invasion at Gemma’s house and the beating of Unser. The perpetrators ransacked the house and stole Clay’s safe. Unser later tells the sheriff that he doesn’t think it is the Niners or Pope’s men that did this. He makes a decision to investigate the break in on his own.

With the threat of jail looming, Jax decides he wants to marry Tara. It’s not the place, a brothel as Tara calls it, that they dreamed of, but Jax has wanted to marry Tara for a long time now and wants it to happen before things get even more rough for the duo. This was one of the best scenes between the two and it seems that no matter what, Jax loves Tara and would do anything for her. Gemma gets wind of it as the lawyer drops off the marriage certificate. Instead of expressing her disappointment about them not telling her, she tells Tara “Life moves on. We change. I hate different things now." She also gives Tara the rings that she and JT wore when they were married. It was a nice gesture on Gemma’s part, but something tells me these two are not going to forgive and forget quite so soon.

Tig finds his daughter Fawn and he has to tell her about Dawn. As Fawn screams that she hates Tig, he has no response but tears in his eyes. Jax tells Fawn’s boyfriend to pack up and leave town. Jax then meets with Romeo and asks him for protection in jail, knowing that when they go Damon Pope will have someone on the inside kill them all. Romeo says he will do what he can and then tells Torres that they will need a plan B for the cartel business if they can’t help Jax.

Nero reveals a little about himself as he is driving Jax around. He tells Jax that he did drugs in his thirties, got his life back together and started his business. It is also revealed he has a son who has spina bifida and has to be in a home for physically challenged children.

Clay makes a visit to Opie to ask him to be there for Jax. He knows Opie can’t forgive him, but wants him to be around for what is about to happen. Opie then goes to Lila to ask if she will take care of his kids for awhile and gives her some money.

Back at Nero’s, Jax and Tara get married with the club and Gemma present. Chibs gives a blessing and Tara becomes a Teller. They go back to the clubhouse so Jax, Chibs and Tig can say their goodbyes. As the police come to get them, Opie shows up and punches the sheriff. They put him in the back of the police truck too as everyone realizes he is sacrificing himself to stay close to Jax. It is revealed that the new club members are the ones who took Clay’s safe and for some reason have an interest in his personal papers.

It was kind of nice to have such a calm episode after the heart wrenching season premiere. There were a few misty eyed moments as Tig had to tell Fawn that Dawn was dead, Jax and Tara got married amid all the chaos and when Opie decided to have Jax’s back despite how he felt. A feeling of anxiety loomed though as the men headed to jail. For some reason, survival does not seem possible at this point for all four of them. Let’s hope that they make it out okay because losing one of these guys would not sit well with the club or the fans.

Well written article Erin. Loved it. I hope Jax n Opie reunite not just for club matters but for their friendship. And Opie becomes VP replacing Bobby. Can't see bobby as the VP for some reason. But I for one, cannot wait til next week, to good. I usually have waited til the end of the season to watch em all back to back, without having to wait 7 days for the next one, but this year I couldn't withhold myself lol.
