Supernatural: Season Six end run preview

Supernatural Season Six will begin the first of its final three episodes of the season this Friday, May 6th and episodes 21 and 22 will air in a two-hour finale that airs on the CW on Friday, May 20th at 8:00.

SPN S6 Final 3 eps

Here's what we know:

Episode 20: "The Man Who Would Be King" will address Castiel's connection to Crowley and the civil war in Heaven. Also, Dean's faith in Castiel will be tested as it rocks his trust to know that Cas and Crowley have been cohorts. Dean can forgive a lot but he runs into trouble when it's betrayal, so we'll have to see how that story arc plays itself out. The picture of Dean and Sam leads me to believe that Dean summons Castiel to question him and I'm guessing into a ring of holy fire, so he can't escape the interrogation. It's clear that Cas cares for the Winchesters and that was evident when the Mother of All bit Dean in the neck and Castiel called out Dean's name in concern. However, Cas has changed and the old saying rings true for the embroiled and troubled angel. There will be alot of ground to cover in this week's episode, so buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpty ride.

Episode 21: "Let it Bleed" will confront Dean with one of his biggest fears: family being put in danger because of him. In this episode Lisa and Ben are kidnapped by demons in order to get to him. Sam and Dean are forced to join with an unlikely ally to free them. I'm hoping that Sera Gamble who penned this episode does not kill them off, as it would come off too blah for me and un-original. I'd like to see the L&B story arc have some closure but not involve either of them dying. I'm curious to see how this goes and the ends meet at the end of the first hour of our 2-hour finale.

Episode 22: "The Man Who Knew Too Much" will surely be an angst-filled last hour to the finale as the Great Wall of Sam comes crashing down. The CW released the synopsis: the wall comes down in Sam's head and all hell breaks loose. Dean and Bobby, are, for once, at a total loss on how to help him and are forced to stand by and do nothing while Sam breaks. The battle for heaven comes to a head. Lots of questions: will Sam be the proverbial Humpty Dumpty? Will he even be conscious when the screen fades to black? What brings on the wall's destruction? Poor Dean and Bobby what will they be going through? Will Sam be Sam or left broken? What happens with the war in Heaven? Episode 22 was written by the show's creator/executive producer and former show runner Eric Kripke which usually means we're in for angst and a cliff hanger that will have every SPN fan tearing their hair out as they struggle through an entire summer speculating. I'll be one of them and I'm eager for season 7 to start in the fall.

Conclusions/Thoughts:

  • Now, one thing the final three episodes of each season have all had in common is angst and family... death, too in one form or another. The Season One finale had family issues with internal issues for all. In addition, had the show not been renewed the Winchester's would have all died in that car crash (assumed) even when asked Kripke agreed that fans would just have to assume they all died but we got a second season and the Winchester's survived but the boys lost their father in episode 2.01. In the Season Two finale, Sam dies in Dean's arms and fans were treated to a strong performance by Jensen Ackles (Dean) while he mourned his little brother's death in the mud and rain only to be topped by Dean's death bed talk with Sam's body. Dean sold his soul to bring his brother back from the dead. Family sacrifice is both a strength and weakness with the Winchester's, gotta love them!
  • The Season Three finale held Dean's death and ended with him in Hell. Season Four had some deaths (Lillith and Ruby) but it also saw a fracturing of the brother's relationship that took a good piece of Season Five to mend. In the Season Five finale Sam gave his life to save humanity and stop the Apocalypse when he took control back of his body from Lucifer and locked himself in the cage with Lucifer and Michael (in Adam's body). So, if we can base previous season outcomes on this season then the fans of this show are surely in for an angst filled final three episodes and a finale that will rock their world in both good and bad ways.
  • Season Six has taken fans on a roller coaster ride as we and Dean had to adjust to a soulless Sam. However, once Sam's soul was put back in place by Death we have seen the boys reconnecting and now they are solid. Man, I missed that brother connection and I'm so glad that it is firmly back in place. Sam and Dean against the world! P.S. I'm so looking forward to seeing Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) hit it out of the park in the two-hour finale, I know they will.
  • I'm so eager for Season Seven as I fully believe that Supernatural still has a lot of potential to harvest, as the ground is still quite furtile. So, fellow SPNer's, be prepared for angst, maybe even some tears (yours and mine), yelling at the screen, and a hair ripping cliffhanger for the conclusion of Season Six.

Oh yeah, Dawn - all of that!

Season 6 has been a bit 'uneven' in places but, man, they do know how to ramp up the tension - these final three episodes are going to be spectaculacular!

Hi Dawn, awesome summary. I'm still unconvinced about the entire betrayal arc - clearly from the latest Castiel and Crowley clip Cas is not willingly working with Crowley to win a war, simply to stop them dying again and again until the end of time - interesting premise and why? Agree with the Winchester bond, always good to see the boys in total harmony. I think we're basing out 'shattering of trust' on comments from cast and crew at Paley, I am not convinced we're being fed a red herring there - after all Eve did not turn a town into demons!

Adored how smart Dean was Mommy Dearest, and I think if anything he'll understand Cas's logic better. After all, the boys haven't been backward in coming forward when using whom so ever they need to get the job done. And Dean's constant 'baby' remarks to Castiel were less than favourable, given that he is basically saying without your powers you are worthless! The boys do use Castiel and vice versa. Frankly I hope they don't use this to dump the characters out of the show!

Hey Jillyanne, I agree that some of S6 has been uneven but overall I've been very pleased with the season. I'm completely stoked for the finale despite I'm positive it will be very intense and angst will overflow :-)

Hi Jacsiss, I'm not entirely sure what is going on with Cas and the betrayal comment was just an overall thought "IF" Cas turns out to have have betrayed them it won't go over well with Dean. I just think back to season 4 and how he let Sam out of the panic room knowing he'd go after Lillith, he said it was on orders but also knew it was wrong. He never came clean about that to Dean or Sam which has always bothered me. I do believe Cas cares for the boys but sometimes things can become blurred and I kinda think they may have become foggy for Castiel now. I hope I'm wrong, I do.

You could be right about the set-up of the final three eps being a means to "dump" the character. I know it crossed my mind. I guess we'll see how it all plays out and maybe Cas will come out on top and vindicate himself. I like Cas and don't want to see him go.

Someone told me that Misha Collins, (Castiel) is going to have his own show. Mabey they are going to kill him off.

Hi Laura, well, there is some truth to what you said. The last I heard Misha had not signed for a season 7 and it has been feverish in the rumor mill that Castiel will die this season. I guess we'll see how that all pans out. I hadn't heard anything about Misha getting his own show. It could be possible. I also know that he is quite involved with the Random Acts Charity, too, so he could be doing more with it as well. His schedule is also peppered with Supernatural Convention appearences.

So, anything is possible at this point. Maybe, Cas will survive S6 and maybe he won't. Hopefully, by the time the screen fades to black on the cliffhanger Season Finale, May 20, we'll know :-)

I was absolutely in awe of Ben Edlund's phenominal job. Did you notice in the preview for the final two eps the HP Lovecraft book Ben Braden was reading? I like this, made me read Lovecraft :)

I think given what we've seen Cas is in a very difficult place, and the unexpected help might come from Castiel for Dean in Let it Bleed.

Yes, I think Ben Edlund did a great job with the epi :) Yep, I noticed the Lovecraft book Ben was reading and tweeted a full color pic of it after I saw the promo :-) After seeing the promo photos for "Let it Bleed" I think Dean will need some angel help, especially for Lisa as it appears she's injured while possessed.

May 20th can't get here soon enough!
