Since I have been watching The Bachelor and Bachelorette for a long time, I tend to be drawn in by any news from couples of the shows that have remained together. Just in the past two weeks we have been given announcements about four couples who have been trying to beat the odds.
Good news comes first with Season 13 bachelor Jason Mesnick and Molly Melaney announcing they are expecting their first child in March of 2013. Mesnick famously dumped chosen lady Melissa Rycroft on TV and began to date runner-up Melaney. They got married in 2010 and despite all of the back lash they had to endure, they stayed positive and have remained together.
Season 7 Bachelorette Ashley Hebert will get her dream wedding to her chosen suitor, JP Rosenbaum. ABC has announced that their wedding will air on the network sometime in December. This will be the third televised wedding of the show with Trista Rehn from the first season of the Bachelorette being the first and Mesnick’s being the second.
Then of course Bachelor news does not come without at least one break-up, but this time there has been two. After weeks of speculation and internet rumors, Emily Maynard and Jef Holm finally announced that their relationship is over. This doesn’t really come as a surprise after seeing many stories about them in magazines and across the web. Maynard and Holm got engaged earlier this year during the eighth season of The Bachelorette and Holm had even moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to be close to Maynard. It is unfortunate for these two because it seems like they could not get a moment of peace.
Their news comes almost two weeks after season 16 Bachelor Ben Flajnik announced his break-up from Courtney Robertson. Their relationship seemed doomed from the start when at their ‘After the final Rose’ special, Robertson admitted Flajnik had broken up with her already due to her actions on the ‘Bachelor’. Robertson was the villain of their season and wasn’t well liked among the other ladies. They decided to give it another go, but alas could not hold on.
With only three couples remaining from eight seasons of The Bachelorette and sixteen of The Bachelor, hopefully Sean Lowe will have better luck during the next Bachelor. Filming of the seventeenth season is already underway and will air in January 2013.
