Review: The Bachelorette (Emily Maynard), "Week 4"
(S0804) Charlotte was left behind this week as Bermuda was the first stop of the travels to come. Doug got the one on one date this week, a casual date with Emily in town. Emily is afraid that Doug is too perfect and he kind of seems that way. When she asked him what flaws his ex-girlfriend would point out and the worst he said was he spent too much time with his son and didn’t clean out her car enough.

First, there isn’t such a thing as spending too much time with your child and second I wouldn’t expect a man to clean out my car for me. So yes, at this point Doug seems too good to be true. He puts Emily on the spot about her flaws and she in turn gives him the date rose, realizing it is hard being put in that position. She clearly wanted a kiss, but he chose to wait for her to ask for it. So they sat in awkward silence for a minute until Doug suggested they leave.

The group date consisted of Jef, Arie, Ryan, Kalon, Travis, Chris, Sean and Charlie. Sailing is the adventure and they are put on teams to compete for a group cocktail party with Emily. Jef, Arie, Ryan and Kalon are the winners with the other guys being sent back to the hotel. Emily spent some time with Jef and Arie during their night, where Arie got a kiss and Jef got the date rose. Emily wanted a kiss from Jef too, but it gets awkward between them when Emily waits for a kiss, but Jef just stares at her, not getting it at all. Emily sits down with Ryan and calls him out on the things he says, including how he had called her a possible trophy wife earlier. He really has no explanation for the things he has said and I don’t understand why he is still there. He pretty much thinks he is God’s gift to women.

The last date is the dreaded two on one date with Nate and John getting chosen. Both are handsome, but the audience really hasn’t seen much of either of them. I thought that the Emily/Jef and Emily/Doug moments were awkward, but this date took the cake. The three of them looked so uncomfortable and they didn’t have much to say. Emily thinks that Nate hasn’t had enough life experience and she sends him home.

At the rose ceremony party, Chris confronts Doug about Doug’s comments earlier that Chris was too young and not ready for a family. Ryan tells Michael that he thinks his calling is to be the next Bachelor and Jef wears some ugly blue knee high socks.

In the end it is John, Jef, Doug, Sean, Arie, Travis, Chris, Ryan, Kalon and Alejandro who receive roses. Never seen Michael and nice guy Charlie are sent packing. I would have kept both of those guys over Kalon and Ryan; especially with all of the things that have come out of Ryan’s mouth. Next week the group travels to London as things get heated when someone refers to Ricki as “baggage”.
